IEC 62386-203 pdf download – Digital addressable lighting interface – Part 203: Particular requirements for control gear – Discharge lamps (excluding fluorescent lamps) (device type 2)
1 scope
This International Standard specifies a protocol and test procedures for the control ofelectronic control gear by digital signals used on a.c. or d.c. supplies, associated withdischarge lamps (excluding fluorescent lamps).
NOTE Tests in this standard are type tests.Requirements for testing individual control gear during production arenot included.

3Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in Clause 3 of IEC 62386-101:2009 and Clause 3 of IEC 62386-102:2009 apply, with the following additional terms anddefinitions.
3.1
lamp cycling
periodic igniting and extinguishing of the lamp
3.2
lamp failure
lamp parameter outside of the tolerances for the normal lamp operation
NOTE The number of attempts to ignite the lamp parameter before final switching off is control gear dependent.3.3
run-up time
time which the system of control gear and lamp(s) needs to set the lamp output power to itsnominal lamp power value after switching on the lamp
3.4
waiting for ignition
control gear status with ignition function maximal up to the ignition time out without lampignition
3.5
ignition time out
status of the control gear after an inefficient ignition time
NOTE The time is specified by the control gear manufacturer-
3.6
arc power at requested value
lamp(s) stafus with the requested arc power
4General
The requirements of Clause 4 of lEC 62386-101:2009 and Clause 4 of lEC 62386-102:2009apply.
5Electrical specifications
The requirements of Clause 5 of lEC 62386-101:2009 and Clause 5 of lEC 62386-102:2009apply.
6lnterface power supply
The requirements of Clause 6 of lEC 62386-101:2009 and Clause 6 of lEC 62386-102;2009apply, if a power supply is integrated with the control gear.
7Transmission protocol structure
The requirements of Clause 7 of lEC 62386-101:2009 and Clause 7 of lEC 62386-102:2009apply.
Timing
The requirements of Clause 8 of lEC 62386-101:2009 and Clause 8 of lEC 62386-102:2009apply.
9Method of operation
The requirements of Clause 9 of lEC 62386-101:2009 and Clause 9 of lEC 62386-102:2009apply with the following exceptions:
Addition to Clause 9 of IEC 62386-102:2009:
9.9Arc power at requested value versus fade running
lf a new arc power level is requested from a stable arc power level situation, the “FadeRunning” bit indicates fading from the stable arc power level to the newly requested powerlevel.
lf the fading has been finished and the new arc power level has been reached the “Arc PowerAt Requested Value” bit indicates whether the arc power is also at the desired value.
Figure 1 gives an example at given time point :
10 Declaration of variables
The requirements of Clause 1 0 of IEC 62386-1 02:2009 apply, with the following declaration of additional variables, given in Table 1 .
11 Definition of commands
The requirements of Clause 11 of lEC 62386-101:2009 and Clause 11 of lEC 62386-102:2009apply , with the following exceptions;
Amendment of Clause 11 of IEC 62386-102:2009:11.3.4 Application extended commands
Replacement:
11.3.4.1General
Every control command(224) and configuration command (240) shall be received a secondtime within 100 ms (nominal) before it is executed in order to reduce the probability ofincorrect reception. No other commands addressing the same control gear shall be sentbetween these two commands, otherwise the first such command shall be ignored and therespective control or configuration sequence shall be aborted.
Command 272 shall be received before the two instances of the application extendedconfiguration/control command, but not between them (see Figure 2).
11 .3.4.2 Application extended control commands
Command 224: YAAA AAA1 1 1 10 0000 ‘RESET STORED HID FAILURE’
This command shall reset all failure bits defined in command 252 “QUERY STORED HID
FAILURE’.
Command 225: YAAA AAA1 1 1 1 0 0001
Reserved for future needs. The control gear shall not react in any way.
Commands 226 – 227: YAAA AAA1 1 1 10 001 X
Reserved for future needs. The control gear shall not react in any way.
Commands 228 – 231 : YAAA AAA1 1 1 10 01 XX
Reserved for future needs. The control gear shall not react in any way.
Command 232: YAAA AAA1 1 1 1 0 1000
Reserved for future needs. The control gear shall not react in any way.
11 .3.4.3 Application extended configuration commands
Commands 233: YAAA AAA1 1 1 1 0 1001
Reserved for future needs. The control gear shall not react in any way.
Commands 234 – 235: YAAA AAA1 1 1 10 101 X
